I'm so glad you're here!
It's so awesome to see you taking the first step towards investing in the memory of your loved ones. Please take the time to read the entirety of this welcome page. It's important that you are 100% confident that I am the photographer for you before we go any further. There is a lot of information for you below but if it still doesn't answer all of your questions and concerns, I'm only an email away!
My name is Ashley Mitchell and I'm the owner and photographer of Sonder Portraits. I was born and raised in Florida. I'm happily married and I'm a mother to two boys, Bradley and Logan. My husband, Ben, and our two sons are my world and inspiration. I'm usually hanging out with them when I'm not behind a camera or computer. I also like sleeping, reading, small group hangouts and exploring new places.
Photography has been a hobby of mine for the past twelve years. I really started to take it seriously after my oldest son, Bradley, was born in December of 2010. I received my first DSLR camera about a year after he was born and it reignited my passion in a new way.
In 2013, I worked under the name of Izzy Photography and started making a little profit. I began to grow as a photographer and as time went on my vision began to change. After a few years, I decided to take a break. During that break, my youngest son Logan was born. I fell in love with the images of my boys together. I knew that those were the kind of images I wanted to provide for others. So, I took the dive and started Sonder Portraits in 2017.
Up until recently, I only ever offered documentary sessions. But I have found a new love for lifestyle sessions and look forward to getting some images in my portfolio. Moody images that show so much connection, intimacy, joy and love. Photographs that make you feel something.
Your sessions environment depends on the kind of session style you choose. Do you prefer the transparency and storytelling aspect of documentary sessions? Or are you set on the style of guided lifestyle portraits?
Documentary sessions can be done pretty much anywhere. I've seen documentaries of soldiers returning home and greeting their loved ones at the airport, a Saturday morning at the home, a new baby, a family vacation or a weekend away.
Lifestyle session locations aren't much different.
What to Wear
Use color pallets! Outfits should be simple and coordinate well together. Prints, bright colors, logos are a big NO NO. Think TEXTURE. Once you think you've made your mind up lay out all the clothing onto a bed. Shoes, socks, stockings – everything should be included…shoes, too! Then, take a careful look at the collection. If your eye goes to any one item in particular, you can be certain that the same thing will happen in a photograph. That item should be changed. Clothing should not be too tight or too loose.
You guys have it easy. Easy like Sunday morning.
A Sunday morning where the whole family is relaxing
in their pj's. It's been done. My people!
Prepping for Session
Your hair style should be simple. Schedule a haircut/color a week before the session if you need one. Ladies, if you paint your nails, make sure you give them a fresh coat of paint the day before the shoot. Don't over accessorize. Minimal and simple works best for less distraction.
What Can I Expect from a Session?
What Happens After the Session?
After about two weeks, I will have all edited images on an online photo gallery. You will be given a code that will allow you to view and download all of your images. Around that time, we'll schedule a quick meet so that I can hand deliver your album!
